Grace McCauley is a New York City-based playwright, lyricist, and self-taught composer. Committed to living a life centered around asking hard questions and staying curious, her work is a reflection of the many questions she’s been left to answer herself.
Her debut musical, Letters to Home, premiered to a sold out audience at The Green Room 42 and was selected to run as part of The New York Theater Festival in July 2024. This autobiographical story is a searing and unapologetic reminder of the hope, resilience, tenderness, and trust she’s fostered within herself in the face of isolation and dismissal. Her goal is to extend that healing to those yearning to be seen.
For six years, Grace has worked in academic publishing where she manages a portfolio of humanities-based research journals. She’s skilled at project management, financial planning, and making informed decisions that honor both content and industry standards. She’s been able to utilize this expertise when developing her own creative projects, most recently launching a successful Kickstarter Campaign for Letters to Home.
Grace is a writing instructor who is passionate about helping others find their voice. She works with the New York City Department of Education to design inquiry-based curriculums that encourage high schoolers to think critically about the world and develop their own, unique perspective and expression in the process.
As a musical theater artist, Grace’s mission is to continue creating experiences that allow audiences to connect with themselves and others by starting a dialogue and touching on something they identify with, especially if it surprises them.
